Dear Parents and Caregivers,
North Valley HS students from grades10-12 will be travelling by bus to Bert Fox High School on February 10th for the afternoon. We will be joing other PVSD schools there to attend a presentation by Youth Specialist-Madison Cameron.
The presentation provided is titled, "Staying True to Yourself". The presentation offers insights about online safety, understanding of how algorithms may impact our values and thought processes, and reminding youth that their voices are worth hearing while empowering them to have control over how they use social media platforms.
Madison and her experiences supporting youth with social media developed a series of presentations for professionals, students, and caregivers about the mental, emotional and behavioural aspects that youth face due to the impact of social media.
If Parents are interested in this topic, Madison will also present a parent and caregiver session titled "We’re Not So Different After All". The presentation provides insight into apps that youth are using and shares experiences about how social media can change the way youth perceive themselves and the world around them. The presentation strengthens connections for those lost within their handheld devices.
There are two opportunities to attend the caregiver session:

G10-12 students will be bussed from NVHS to Bert Fox, and will be back in time for busses at end of day. The bus will leave NVHS at 12:15 for the 1 pm presentation, please bring lunch with you to eat on the way!
